Steel Beams - Check!

Here are some photos of the last few days work. I'll leave it up to your imagination to guess how I installed 2 - 250 pound steel beams by myself. Next step is to grout the bearing ends and the small gaps on the top side. Then I can remove all of the shoring and try to put the house back together by Wednesday.

Hot Saturday

I finished the rough demo on the openings from the new kitchen into the adjacent rooms. After cleaning up all this concrete there will be some fine tuning before the steel I-beam headers will be installed.

Man vs. House

Ali and Ben and Josie have left for 2 weeks so that I can make some real messes around the house without anyone in the way. Here are some pictures from the first few days.

More concrete chunks! The opening into the Living Room from the (new) Kitchen is partially finished.

The doors are removed, ready for concrete cutting.

If you look closely you can see a fresh crop of green grass coming in on top of the new leach field.

Footers dug for the foundation.
